Happy Tuesday! From a Black Lodge Video announcement to a Chopped casting call to a Mike Conley shaped maze, here is today’s Memphis news update.

– First off, tonight: gather your pals and come play Cerrito Trivia’s Memphis Match Game with me at the Rec Room at 8 p.m. Your team will try to match Memphis trivia answers with a panel of locals including yours truly. It’s totally free, for 18+, and you can get more info here. Be sure to say hi!

– According to the Creative Memphis Podcast, Black Lodge Video’s founder and owner Matt Martin plans to reopen the old-school film rental institution in a new location in Cooper Young. This is what we know:

  • The new shop will be on York in Cooper Young, near Goner Records and 901 Comics
  • They’ll offer one-time rental fees as well as a $10/month subscription service
  • They plan to serve beer and wine and have a film screening area
  • They plan to open by Halloween, or the end of 2016 at the latest
  • Matt discusses a lot more about Black Lodge and the state of the film rental/streaming business and it’s crazy interesting, so be sure to listen to the whole interview here.

Mention the words craft beer and Ryan’s ears will immediately perk up. You’ll have his full attention. He believes beer is something to be enjoyed with every sip — not just a way to get a buzz. Ryan constantly wants to share this feeling with the city of Memphis through knowledge and beer education, and that led him to starting Memphis Craft Beer.
